Department of Textile Engineering, AUST participated in a seminar at Dhaka Int’l Textile & Garment Machinery Exhibition, 2024

On February 4, 2024, AUST team took part in a seminar titled “Incorporating Sustainability in Textile Engineering Education to comply with SDGs in the Textile Sector of Bangladesh” at the Dhaka Int’l Textile & Garment Machinery Exhibition, 2024 jointly organized by Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) and ORKERS. Prof. Dr. Lal Mohan Baral delivered the keynote speech on the given topic. He gave an overview of the new stream “Chair for Sustainability and Textile Innovation” under the Department of Textile Engineering and discussed about the significance of the sustainable development in the textile sector in Bangladesh. Furthermore, he explored the job opportunities of fresh graduates from this stream at national and international level.

In addition, there was an interactive panel discussion session where the panelists were from both academics including Prof. Dr. Lal Mohan Baral, Professor, DTE, AUST, Dr. Mohammad Tajul Islam, Associate Professor, DTE, AUST and Mr. Syful Alam Mallick, Compliance Manager from renowned brand, Mr. Mashook Chowdhury, Sustainability Manager, DBL Group as industry experts.

Moreover, the faculty members and the students from 4th year 1st and 2nd semester got the opportunity to explore various machineries of renowned companies for example RIETER, USTER, TRUETZSCHLER.
